UniCredit and Luís Figo – a perfect match

Professional, ambitious, reliable, and above all successful. These are just some of the common traits that have brought together UniCredit as a European banking group and Luís Figo, one of Europe’s most renowned football personalities.

"With Luís Figo we have teamed up with an internationally acknowledged personality whose career can probably be described as unique and perfectly fitting our brand," (Paolo Fiorentino, Deputy CEO UniCredit Group)

Official UniCredit Ambassador for the UEFA Champions League

Luís Figo has always played in a class of his own. Just recently retired in 2009 from his impressive international football career, he played a leading role in some of the most successful European teams, such as perennial UEFA Champions League title prospects FC Barcelona, Real Madrid CF, and FC Internazionale. With Real Madrid CF he actually lifted the Trophy in 2002 and is one of only 12 players to surpass the milestone of 100 UEFA Champions League appearances.

In his time off the pitch, his strong personality, his professionalism, and his sense of social responsibility have already made him a well appreciated business man.

“For me this partnership is a real honor. UniCredit is one of the most important financial groups in Europe, and they are linking to the sport I am passionate about - and to the people. We first met in fall 2009 during the UEFA Champions League Trophy Tour, where I was present as ambassador for UEFA.” (Luìs Figo)

Luís Figo’s first major appearance as Official UniCredit Ambassador for the UEFA Champions League was at the Trophy Tour 2010. The Tour kicked off in Munich in September, bringing the coveted UEFA Champions League Trophy to football fans in Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and Austria.
